Notes du plongeur

A group of Germans also at the sight were quite surprised when we got in at dusk, however it was pitch black by the time we got out an hour later and they were just about to leave.

Nice starting in the dusk lighting to allow us to get in easily and our eyes to adjust. I found a beautiful cuttle fish dancing and changing colours. Tried to encourage him to dance with my hand but he was too bust playing in the sand. I spent a lot of the dive looking upwards to make sure that I could still see the moon and the surface of the water as I was worried that we may swim into a cave accidentally in the dark!

I found another cuttlefish at the entrance of the cave, watched him change colours and textures before entering the cave. It was a lot more noticeable entering the cave than I actually thought it would be! On entering, something very fast moved on the right hand side of the wall catching my eye.It was an orange octopus darting towards me before then attaching himself to the wall, looking like he was one of the beautiful sponges. We spent a while watching him. Having, been worried about entering the cave, I felt like the octopus was a good sign and so we ventured deeper inside the cave. Sadly, no more life was found but it was weird to turn around and to not see the mouth lit up in the normal sunshine.

We crossed onto the east side of the valley and watched lots of little orangey/red fish dance. But no flat fish at all! Jem found a third cuttlefish that underside glowed a fluorescent green along his frilly skirt. He was standing on two arms and holding the other two upright. He appeared to follow us for a while before settling down.

An hour long dive ending up back on the shore with only star and moon light present. Awesome!
