    2009-12-27 Maldives North Ari Atoll
    Maaya Thila

One of the richest and most vibrant reefs in the Maldives, the thila is about 80 meters in diameter. The top of the reef starts at six meters, sloping to 12m, before dropping to beyond 30m. Caves, overhangs and ledges are found all along the reef wall. Millions of anchovies disperse and regroup to form a variation of shapes stealing the show from the Grey sharks and their companions the Rainbow Runners. While schools of Snappers and Batfish hover beneath coral trees. Maaya Thila is also an excellent site for a night dive. After dark, predators swing into hunting mode. Sharks seem to zoom in from every direction. Their sense of urgency and frantic search for prey are felt in wave after wave of electrifying melee. Moray eels are seen leaving their holes to search for food. Octopuses are sighted in ambush position for a shellfish in passing. Species spotted: White Tip Reef Shark, Green Turtle, Blue Spotted Lion Fish, Marble Ray, Giant Moray. (Estimated entry time and dive time)

    2007-08-20 Indonésie Nusa Lembongan, Bali
    Mangrove

Estimated entry time, dive time and depth. This site is so called due to its location, right by the mangrove area to the north east of Nusa Lembongan. Mangroves offers a healthy sloping coral reef, with small bommies and table corals waiting to be explored for the small stuff and often marble rays and other larger species swimming past in deeper water. Sharks are occasionally seen here too. A good site for all levels.

2008-01-11 Thaïlande Koh Doc Mai, Phuket
    Koh Doc Mai

This small island is located on the way to Shark Point from Phuket and is considered one of the best wall dives in the area. Koh Dok Mai ( meaning ‘Flower Island’ in Thai ) is a huge limestone rock that rises steeply out of the sea and plunges straight down to the sea floor at 30m on the northern and southern tips. Generally the dive is started on the east side drifting with the current, where divers follow a vertical wall covered in clam, hards corals and huge sea fans. There are two caves located on this side which offer a fantastic cavern view from just a couple of meters in. For macro lovers Koh Doc Mai is probably the best Thailand has to offer. Look out for Cleaner Shrimps, Seahorses, Ornate Ghostpipefish, endless Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs, Frogfish and juvenile White-Eyed Moray Eels. Bearded Scorpionfish, Banded Sea Snake, Common Lionfish, Forsters and Chevron Barracudas are common residents here. The west side is a gently sloping hard coral reef with an abundance of colorful marine life decorating its underwater cliffs and the dive is usually ended here where currents are not present.

    2007-08-20 Indonésie Nusa Penida, Bali
    Manta Point

Estimated entry time, dive time and depth. The site that has made Penida famous. Very regular sightings of adult Manta Rays, Turtles and Nurse Sharks make this site on the exposed south side of the island stunning, but the sea conditions have to be favourable, so it is definitely a dive to be savoured.
