    The Great Blue Hole

CHECK OFF THE BOX! THE BLUE HOLE Some anxiety before entering the water, and as we descended the wall. Had to make certain to add air to the BCD to avoid an uncontrolled descent. At about 100', the wall opened to reveal stalactite and stalagmite formations. Swam through and between these. Inside the hole were 15 reef sharks. Slow ascent to the surface.

YET ANOTHER BUCKET LIST DIVE! AND - DIVE #25 Night dive. Diving with the manta rays -very cool - at least two - maybe three? Also, saw many yellow margin moray eels free swimming. The divemasters put lights into a basket, facing up, to attract the plankton, then the mantas "fly" in. Lost my camera - and, in a state of stupidity - went after it, until the divemaster called me back. They retrieved it for me.

    Kealakekua Bay

Average depth was 35', long slow ascent without a safety stop before surfacing. Saw Hellers barracuda and trumpet fish in a University of Hawaii experiment. Also saw the submerged Captain Cook monument, made of extra cinder blocks not used in the actual construction of the memorial, stacked in a reasonable facsimile of the topside monument at about 100'.

    The Chimney

THANKSGIVING DAY! Along the sandy bottom, before reaching the reef, we found many conch shells - at first it seemed like they just lay there. On closer inspection, every so often, one could be seen to move. Saw garden eels - tiny eels that retreat into their sandy bottom holes on approach. Also saw a ray and two shrimp.
