The last dive of the Bonaire holiday. Easy shore entry on a sand bank with little to no waves and no surge. We did a surface swim to the dive buoy. Once we were all ready, we descended. My mom descends with her tank heading straight for my dad's head. Had to nudge my mom to make sure that a collision was avoided. The dive started when we arrived at a reef "entrance", a sand path dividing the two reefs. After swimming through the "entrance", the dive was like all the others, heading north along the reef against a weak current. Katrina signaled for us to descend from 30ft to +-45 feet. As we descended I had to stop when I had problems equalising and had needle like pains in my inner ears. Katrina did not realise that I had stopped and she had panicked when she couldn't see me. Any attempt to signal Katrina of my position was futile as she was about 2m directly below me. We eventually found each other and the panic was over. I still had an issue with equalising which meant that for the rest of the dive I kept my depth at approx. 40ft. max. On our return to the reef "entrance", I followed the sand bank that split the reef into two. As we ascended up the reef, I started to black out. I assume this was something to do with me forgetting to breath regularly. I managed to avoid blacking out entirely and focused pretty much only on my breathing for the rest of the dive. As we were about to surface, we were completely engulfed by big eye scad. They came out of nowhere and dissipated as quickly as they had arrived. Overall the dive was very eventful, and personally posed quite a challenge, but was definitely one of the best dives of the holiday.

Mergulho SENSACIONAL!

Last dive of the holiday. Standard brief on beach before kitting up on beach. Took heading from bakkie to buoy for easy return to shore. Swam out to shot line and descended. Swam towards reef until we saw the break in the reef that signals the entrance to the first of the double reef. Swam to the north. Saw loads of fish. Had a barracuda use us as cover so that he could get closer to the shoals of fish. At about half time turned around and headed south towards the start point. Still ahd air left so pushed south of entrance for 3-4 minutes. Headed back to entrance and to find shot line buoy for navigation back. Came across a bunch of divers on their way in. About 30 metres from the shore we were enveloped in a shoal of Bigeye Scad. Could actually hear them moving throug the water. Tey went passed us, and a minute later came back again and enveloped us. Seemed to be moving away from game fish that were hunting them. Easy nav back to shore. Great last dive. Standard Coke and chat at de-kit. Total UW Time: 58:12

There is construction all around this dive site so we wanted to do it now - not sure if it will be accessible in the future. This was a great dive! It looked like a coral restoration area - there were little patches of stag horn coral on the way out to the reef. We saw a large green moray eel swimming along the reef, two barracuda, four arrow crabs, and after saying on dive 92 that I never saw black durgeons in Bonaire, we saw several on this dive. I also saw a flat crab with a body the size of a saucer but it went under a rock before I could get a really good look.
